Immersive Engineering is easiest to understand as a chain: generate energy, move it through a visible network, then feed machines that perform increasingly useful processing tasks.
Start with the power path
Plan where generation sits, where machines will go, and how wires can reach them without turning the build into an unreadable web. Visible routing is part of the mod’s design language.
Connectors and relays
Connectors attach a network to blocks that can send or receive power. Relays are useful when a line needs to change direction or span a larger build without attaching directly to a machine.
Why multiblocks matter
Many signature machines are assembled from multiple blocks. The structure must match the expected pattern and orientation before it can form into the functional machine.
Design for expansion
Leave service space around machines, separate input and output areas, and reserve routes for wires or item transport. A little planning makes later factory growth much easier.
